There is living, and then there is thriving.
A regular yoga practice can increase the mind, body, and spirit connection, strength, understanding, breath control, and stability. Integrating yoga into an exercise routine will allow your efforts to maximize (think of it a supplemental exercise practice). Yoga does not require a uniform, the only prerequisite is an open mind, and most experience very few barriers to entry. Join a class with me and begin to not simple just live, but to thrive.
Benefits for the Mind
|
REDUCES STRESS
By connecting with the breath, our focus turns inwards offering respite from external stress and brings an awareness to cause, enabling change. |
INCREASES CONFIDENCE
As you explore sequences and postures as well as learn to quiet the mind, your abilities will grow and self-confidence can flourish. |
PROVIDES FOCUS
Practicing focus during class can lead to increased attention span and concentration outside of class in other areas of life. |
HELPS COGNITIVE FUNCTION
Practicing yoga regularly can improve memory recall, the decision-making process, awareness, and reasoning. |
Benefits for the Body
|
BUILDS STRENGTH
Yoga builds lean muscle mass utilizing our own body weight while postures engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously. |
INCREASES FLEXIBILITY
Postures stretch into the muscles, tendons and fascia, reducing tightness and improving range of motion (injury prevention). |
RESTORES BALANCE
Yoga postures engage and build the structures surrounding our joints to increase balance and coordination, as well as increase longevity. |
NATURALLY HEALS
A regular yoga practice can relieve inflammation, improve heart health, and aid in recovery from sport, cross training, travel, and work. |
Benefits for the Spirit
|
PROVIDES COMMUNITY
Being part of a group is natural for humans. With online presence ever-growing, it is more important to create and engage with a physical community. |
TEACHES ACCEPTANCE
Yoga is for every body. At a yoga class, the only expectation is to show up and come as you are, fostering a vibrant acceptance for all. |
BUILDS CONNECTION
Yoga can improve the connection and relationship we have with ourselves through mindfulness, meditation, and focus. |
DEVELOPS AWARENESS
While yoga can develop your proprioception, it can also increase mind awareness relating to thought creation and reactions to stimuli. |

Meet the TeacherAshley Stuart, 200hr RYT
As a yoga teacher, I aim to provide a safe space for the community to practice yoga and meditation. I am a 200-hour registered yoga teacher offering trauma-informed yoga and meditation classes. Yoga has strengthened me and my understanding of the world around me. My yoga journey began in 2008 in Charleston, SC. I continued practicing yoga on and off through the years and through the cities, returning to the practice when the time was right. I studied with My Vinyasa Practice and my direct lineage of knowledge is from Krishnamacharya. Off the yoga mat, I teach adult and youth art classes at the Fort Meade Arts & Crafts Center, run an online art shop founded in 2020, and am actively volunteering at my children's school. |
Offering yoga classes in the Fort Meade community.
